About Pristine

Released in 1994 by the PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, Illinois) joint breeding program, the Pristine was specifically bred for resistance to apple scab, making it a favorite for organic growers. It is one of the earliest apples to ripen, often ready for harvest in July. The fruit is strikingly beautiful with a smooth, wax-free, lemon-yellow skin that is almost translucent. Unlike many other early yellow apples that can be mealy, the Pristine has a very crisp, juicy texture and a refreshing, citrusy finish. The tree is a heavy producer with an upright growth habit, though it requires multiple pickings as the fruit ripens unevenly over several weeks.
