About Monark

Developed by the University of Arkansas and released in 1995, the Monark is a standout among summer apples for its exceptional firmness and shelf life. While most early-season apples soften quickly, the Monark maintains a crisp, 'breaking' texture even in the heat of the South. The fruit is medium to large with a green-yellow background almost entirely covered in a bright red blush. The flavor is notably tart and refreshing, making it an excellent choice for both fresh eating and summer pies. The tree is vigorous and shows good resistance to many common apple diseases.
